Christmas Day

Our Christmas present was answering the phone and hearing Elder Runnels voice on the other end. It was sooo awesome to hear how happy he is and how much he loves his mission (as we read in his letters). He is growing so much in the gospel and our joy is full. Following is a letter we received from the family he is living with:

Sister Runnels,

Merry Christmas! Elder Runnels was really looking forward to talking to everyone back home in Hawaii. He is such an incredible missionary. You'd be so proud of him!

I appreciate the recipe and had planned to make it for Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the missionaries were double-booked and it was important for them to keep their second dinner appointment (with a newly baptized member). So, although I wasn't able to surprise them with recipes from home, I told them that we would try to do it before their next transfer (in mid January). Elder Ridgway's mother asked me to fix bisquits and gravy for Christmas breakfast. So, the Elders were able to come over early this morning for breakfast before they began their busy day.

I am including a picture of Elder Runnels and Elder Ridgway from this morning (the small fence around the Christmas tree actually keeps our young grandsons away from the presents and Christmas ornaments). I thought you'd also enjoy some pictures of our house (decorated for Christmas). The missionaries actually helped my husband with some of the lights! The Elders live in an apartment next to our house. In the pictures, their apartment is just left of the stars on the garage.

Take care and know that the missionaries here in Idaho are keeping warm, are obedient, and are taken care of by the members here.

Holiday wishes,
Janine Renberg
